Accommodation

Stan Bell Centre

Just round the corner from RNIB College Loughborough, you will find our home away from home, the Stan Bell Centre.

Comprised of 23 single en-suite bedrooms in four self-contained flats, large communal areas and ample outdoor space, the Stan Bell centre is open during term time, providing accommodation for our residential students as well as overnight and dinner time respite.

Each private room is equipped with a bed, bathroom, desk, telephone, broadband and TV points. Some of our rooms have been adapted for wheelchair users, and we have fully accessible ground floor flats. Each flat also has a large kitchen and dining area which is shared by all residents of the flat.

Within the building, all service users have access to a quiet TV lounge, a games room, a computer room and a laundry room. There is also a large garden with outdoor seating, and a gym area.

There are always staff members on site to support the service users, although everyone is encouraged to develop their skills and independence as much as possible. Staff based at the Stan Bell centre include care supervisors, waking night staff, support workers, domestic staff, Registered Manager, Deputy Care Manager and Lead Support Worker.

Residential Students

Each year, RNIB College Loughborough sees new students from all over the country. For those coming from further afield, the Stan Bell centre becomes their home during term time.

For these students, their allocated bedroom will be theirs from September to July, so they can personalise it with their own belongings to make it feel more comfortable.

Whether these students are based on RNIB College's campus, or are studying at Loughborough College with our support, everyone will benefit from the facilities and support available at the Stan Bell Centre.

Residential students who stay at Stan Bell Centre can also benefit from our Extended Curriculum programme, which includes weekend day trips, local community groups and sports activities, and evening activities. For more information on our Extended Curriculum, please click here.

Short Breaks & Respite

As part of our Social Care provision, we are pleased to offer respite at the Stan Bell Centre to current students and service users at RNIB College Loughborough.

Catering to each of our service users' needs, our Short Breaks programme includes lunchtime, dinner and overnight stays which can be taken during the week or at the weekend over 38 weeks of the year.

This is ideal for those who would like a few nights away from home in a safe and supported environment.

Young people are encouraged to be as independent as possible in their care; however we recognise that some people will always need support. Staff can support young people with their personal care, taking medication, taking part in fun activities and accessing the community during their stay.

Activities offered include social, sporting, leisure, community, seasonal, creative and fun opportunities. Young people can join in with these activities to develop confidence, social and independence skills.
