If you live local to the College, in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire, you can travel to the College on a daily basis and transport may be paid for as part of your funding. A direct train service operates to Loughborough from Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. A shuttle bus then runs from Loughborough train station to the College every ten minutes. If you are unable to use public transport, a taxi may be provided.
Trainees come to the College from all over the UK and residential accomodation is then provided. If you choose to live at the College, transport home is paid for every other weekend. Trainees finish at lunchtime on Friday, which gives a long weekend to travel home.
We have two houses very close to the College, which are a short walk away from the main building. The houses are fully equipped so you feel comfortable living here. Trainees have private study bedrooms and share washing, catering and living facilities with housemates.
For trainees who need more supported living we also have a flat for adult learners in our Stan Bell Centre, which offers greater support from residential staff and has private en-suite washing facilities in each room.
Residential learners have the choice of coming to college on a full board or self-catering basis. A weekly meal allowance is provided in order to cover your living expenses. The College catering team are very flexible and make provision for specific dietary requirements that trainees may have.
As an adult learner you are treated as an adult, so your evenings and weekend are yours to do as you please!
Loughborough has a large student presence, meaning that many facilities such as café's, bars, restaurants, cinema, shops and a supermarket are right on your doorstep.
RNIB College Loughborough has its own student committee which organises activities and social events on behalf of students. You are also able to become a member of the Loughborough Students
