Disability Equality Duty

The College values people with disabilities. We aim to make sure people can access our building and services. The law protects people with disabilities under the Disability Discrimination Act (1995). The Government wants further action to ensure that the rights of people with disabilities are promoted. The Government have extended the Act with the Disability Equality Duty.

The Duty requires public authorities such as the RNIB College to promote the rights of people with disabilities. We have drawn up a Disability Equality Scheme and Action Plan with the participation of people with disabilities. All the relevant documents are attached.

The information is available in different formats such as large print, Braille or audio on request.

Gender Equality Duty

The College values people whatever their gender. We aim to make sure people have equal access to our buildings and services. The Gender Equality Duty (GED) came into force on 6 April 2007 and extends from the Sex Discrimination Act (1975) as amended by the Equality Act (2006). The Government wants action to ensure that the rights of people are promoted, harassment and discrimination eliminated and barriers to achievement removed, even if unintentional.

The Duty requires public authorities such as the College to promote equal rights to all people. We have drawn up a Gender Equality Scheme and Action Plan with the participation of staff, learners and external contacts.
