You will complete at least one work placement in your time at the College. We have a full-time employment placement executive who will support you in finding a suitable placement. The aim of all work placements is to enable you to gain practical experience on the theory that you will have learned at college. This will help you to build confidence in working environments and will give you genuine work experience to add to your curriculum vitae.

Richard with The Bridge
Richard, 28 and partially sighted, studied IT, Administration and Customer Services at The College. He undertook a work placement with The Bridge, a voluntary service offering housing advice.
He assisted with a variety of general office duties including covering reception, fielding telephone enquiries and data input.

Jess at Champneys Springs
Jess, 31 and totally blind, came to the College to focus on her computer skills, but she also had a keen interest in holistic therapies. During her course she completed a placement at Champneys Springs Health Spa
As well as undertaking an external work placement most learners also spend time working internally in the college office. This is a working office where you will be carrying out genuine administration work for other departments in the College.
Job-getting skills are a major part of all programmes and as a member of job club, job searching will be part of your timetable. This means that throughout your course you will have support in developing your CV, searching for suitable jobs, applying for positions, interview techniques and any other advice and guidance that you will need to meet your eventual aim of gaining employment.
