Can you help the RNIB College Loughborough to become "outstanding"?
RNIB College Loughborough is looking for two new Governors to advise and support its care and education of people with disabilities.
Being a governor at the College is a rewarding role and will develop knowledge of disabilities and equal opportunities. This will be particularly beneficial to someone interested in corporate social responsibilities.
The College supports students from 16-63 years old who are blind, partially sighted and / or have other disabilities such as autism, learning or mobility difficulties.
We work with over 250 employers to provide work placements and other opportunities for students to develop their skills and work experience.
Organisations include: Imago Services, Charnwood Borough Council, the British Heart Foundation, Loughborough College and Leicestershire Constabulary.
We offer further education and adult employment programmes in-house and with partner colleges. The College supports students to achieve their individual goals through skills and personal development needed to progress in life.
The College recruits from all over the UK and has to cover its costs from income earned. Turnover is over £3 million per year.
College Principal, Tony Warren, said: “We are a caring educational body that has to operate in a efficient business-like way. We are looking for people with expertise and contacts to help us.”
On this occasion the college is particularly looking for governors with experience of business at a senior level or with contacts in ethnic minority communities.
