Quality Improvement Manager

RNIB College Loughborough

Time at the College: 11 Years

Personal Profile: I worked as a Private Secretary to the Price Controller for Concorde and I am still very proud of that aircraft. Then I worked in the electricity industry before leaving to have two children. After a career break and a move to Leicestershire I became a teacher working at Loughborough College for ten years as a lecturer than as a Programme Leader of a widening participation programme called New Directions. In 2000 I joined the RNIB, firstly as a Tutor Organiser, then team leader and now as Quality Improvement Manager

Why I like working at the RNIB College Loughborough: It's a great place to work with supportive colleagues and a positive, friendly working atmosphere. It is my ambition to work with all my colleagues to become a provider that is judged as Outstanding by Ofsted and Excellent by CQC so that learners who come here get the best possible experience. The best thing about being a Manager here is that you get all the challenge and diversity that a management role can bring without losing contact with the learners. The College is small enough to ensure that the impact of improvements is directly seen in the quality of the learner experience and their progression.
