I have been at the college for nearly three years now. I began doing the in-house programme for two years and now I am on the College's Bridge programme, which is helping me to become more independent.

At College I get to plan my own timetable. I started off doing this with the help of my tutor but I soon began to do it on my own. I like the fact that I can plan my day with all the things I have to do as well as the nice things like shopping.

Two nights a week I plan and make my own meals. Tonight I am making Shepard's Pie. I go to the supermarket on a Monday and use the allowance I get to pay for the ingredients. This helps me to practice my budgeting skills, which is something that I find quite hard but I am getting much better at it now.

I go on three separate work placements. I learn lots of different skills and I can't decide which one I enjoy the most. I also go to Work Club where I get help writing my own CV and I practice filling out application forms.

I have been out on the bus with my tutor and have gone to lots of places including the next town. I feel much more confident doing this now and have even had a go at getting the train into Leicester. I enjoyed this a lot and would like to do it again sometime.

I have become much more confident since starting my course and my goal when I leave College is to move out of home and into supported living.
