What happens at the end of your course?

We hold a celebration event every year at the end of the summer term to acknowledge the progress that every learner has made.
If it is your final year you will have a review with your tutors and Connexions Adviser to develop an action plan for your future. We will remain in contact with you for 12 months to help you with advice and guidance.

Transitions/reviews

At the RNIB College we are thinking about the day you leave right from the very start, so transitions is a key part of your timetable from day one. Because we are working towards this end aim from the beginning it means your transition from the College to Higher Education, employment, voluntary work or other personal aims, will be very smooth and incredibly planned.

I think that it's good that my targets have changed as my course has progressed

Quote from current learner

Every learner has an annual review where the learner and their parents, tutors and the Connexions Advisor all get together to discuss progress and resolve any issues that anyone may have.

What are some past learners doing now?

Alistair

I studied at the RNIB College for one year. In that year I feel that I gained independence and grew as a person, so much so that I am now studying a BTEC at my local mainstream College and no longer need to be in a residential setting.

Lewis is gardening

Lewis

I attended the RNIB College for four years. My main interest at the College was horticulture. I had a work placement at Homebase and also helped the college grounds staff with their work. These both gave me valuable work experience. I now live independently in my own flat and have found a voluntary job, where I do gardening for people who are not able to look after their own gardens.
